Hi. Today we enjoy in our session  of one of the most popular black teas in the world: Lapsang Souchong.

The first impression is its intense smoky aroma of pine wood, which is its great hallmark. Another sign to take into account is the shape and size of its leaves. Small and loose, they are dark brown with reddish hints.

We prepare the infusion using a traditional Yixing clay Gaiwan, as well as a cup of justice and a filter. We add about three grams of tea, as well as water at about 80 degrees.

In this case we wash the sheet, discarding the first infusion, just immediately after adding water for the first time. Add water and let it infuse again for a couple of minutes, to get our Lapsang Souchong ready.

The result is an ocher-colored infusion, with a unique and intense aroma and flavor. The wood-smoked aroma is dense, filling the room to make this tea session an experience for the senses. Its flavor is intense, with a lot of presence and personality. Smoked again is present, this time on the palate, to leave a truly unique lasting taste.

In short, Lapsang Souchong is a tea with a taste and aroma that is very different from other varieties of black tea. The pine wood smoking does not give rise to any kind of indifference, hence it is a variety that polarizes tea fans a lot, being possibly one of the varieties of tea with a stronger flavor. So the best advice is to try it and find out personally, since there is a before and after trying this Lapsang Souchong.
