Drinking coffee or tea does not harm the heart and is not related to other causes of death, such as infections, as is apparent from a study of the European Society of Cardiology.

The study was presented this morning under the ESC Congress, which brings together until 3 September to more than 30,000 cardiologists from around the world in Barcelona.

The research is based on monitoring 130,000 patients between 18 and 95 years for three and a half years.

The cardiologist at the Hospital La Paz in Madrid Almudena Castro, who has been responsible to introduce the study, explained that “the result of the study allows demystify the relationship has historically been established between the consumption of coffee or tea and the development of cardiovascular disease. ”

Castro said “the study also shows that coffee drinkers are more consumers of tobacco, while tea drinkers tend to have a healthier cardiovascular habits.”
