The journal Molecules published in 2022, in its special edition “Current approaches to medicinal chemistry in neurological and psychiatric diseases)” a review article dedicated to the benefits of green tea catechins on neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive deficits.
The research was carried out jointly by professionals from various scientific institutions in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
In their review they examined the neuroprotective effects of green tea catechins, highlighting their biological, pharmacological, antioxidant and metal chelation capacities, focusing on their ability to activate various cellular pathways in the brain.
This review also pointed out the mechanisms of catechins in various neurodegenerative and cognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and cognitive deficit.
