A review article published in the scientific journal Journal of Global Health examines the relationship between tea consumption and a reduced risk of osteoporosis.
The research team consisted of professionals from the Xiangya School of Medicine and Central South University, both located in Changsha (Hunan, China).
The study concludes that tea consumption may benefit bone and joint health, whereas alcohol and sugary beverages are associated with a higher incidence of bone and joint conditions, such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. These findings highlight the importance of dietary choices in preventing bone and joint disorders.
The team’s methodology involved a systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases, covering literature up to January 2025. Two independent reviewers selected the studies and extracted data based on pre-established criteria. The research also incorporated meta-analyses and systematic reviews.
