Today we enjoy our Tea Time of a variety of a well-known tea: Pu Erh raw or Sheng Pu Erh. This Chinese red tea is from Yunnan province.
Main difference on this variety of Pu Erh from which we usually know here is the method of preparation. To understand it in an easy way, the method is more like than an usual green tea that of a standard Pu Erh. This results in a different variety, while retaining some of its properties.
The aroma of this raw Pu erh is wide and pleasant. Very different from the earthen smell of other varieties of red tea. The leaf is large and rolled, dark green, and looks like wild forest picked.
The surprise comes after brewing the infusion, for about four minutes at a high water temperature. The color is rather amber, and its flavor is mild with a bitter taste, and a floral aftertaste that remains in the mouth in a very pleasant and long lasting way.
Taking a look to the leaf may make you think this is a strong flavor tea but is not. It is a mild flavor tea, a whole lamb in wolf’s clothing. A good choice for those who want to enjoy the properties of red tea (you have a summary here) but they do not like the typical earthen flavor of the best known variety of chinese Pu Erh.
