Hi. Today in our Tea Time we enjoy a very special tea: Da Hong Pao Oolong. It comes from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province, one of the most prestigious tea growing areas in China. This is a toasted tea, where the hand of the person who makes it determines its flavor and aroma. Dense, pleasant, with touches of wood, with an aroma that invites you to try it.

We prepare the infusion with about three grams of tea for a small teapot. Then we will add water to about 90 degrees, and we will leave it for 4-5 minutes to have our Da Hong Pao ready.

Da Hong Pao means “Big Red Robe”, because the emperor marked the bushes with a red cloth to enjoy it exclusively. The infused leaf is dark and very hard, without getting to open at all. At this point the infusion of this Da Hong Bao fills the room with its dense aroma, with a lot of presence.

The color is dark, and the taste is very elegant. It has a very characteristic flavor with many shades of wood, unique if it were not for varieties that imitate it as the Don Ding of Taiwan.

Although putting a fair amount does not last as long as other varieties, the truth is that the time you have active is a minute of glory well spent, in the pure style of Andy Warhol.

Da Hong Pao is a tea that really does not go unnoticed, with a lot of personality and really has earned its reputation as “China’s famous tea”. Recommended to understand why oolong varieties are so recognized, and in this case very different from other oolong as is the Tie Guan Yin (another great tea).

Well, this is all in this tea session. We are at your disposal in our teahouse in Barcelona, as well as in our online tea shop and on our blog.
