Hello, Today we have in our tea session a superior quality variety from the Chinese province of Fujian: jade jasmine pearls. As the name suggests, the leaves come wrapped with jasmine in the form of small pearls. During the elaboration process, different batches of jasmine flowers are used. That’s why its aroma is spectacular, with a lot of presence and floral fragrance from the first moment.
We prepare the infusion using a glass Gaiwan. We add about three grams of tea, and water at about 75 degrees, allowing the infusion to be done for a couple of minutes to make it perfect. The pearls open slowly, showing not only the jasmine but also a few whole tea leaves of medium size. These jade jasmine pearls have captivated us with their aroma, even without having come to try it yet.
Once a couple of minutes have passed, we have our jasmine tea ready to enjoy. The color is a golden with very nice ocher touches. And the flavor has a lot of character, where who carries the baton is the jasmine, without a doubt.
Jasmine tea is a classic of Chinese cuisine, possibly being the most famous flavored tea in the world, thanks to a simplicity and freshness difficult to find. In this particular case, the process gives jasmine much more character, not by increasing its quantity (which would make it more bitter), but by exposing the fresh tea to different batches of flowers, absorbing the aroma to a spectacular level .
These jade jasmine pearls are a perfect example of the potential and quality of traditional flavored varieties, which are usually of floral origin, either with a base of fresh green tea, as in this case, or with fermented varieties.
Without a doubt, we are probably the best exponent of fresh jasmine tea, with a presence flavor and a well-balanced astringent touch. Fragrance and floral aftertaste, is a very good option to refresh the mouth after a good meal, being a perfect companion for a good after-dinner.
