In today’s Tea Time Today we enjoyed a tea that is halfway between green tea and Oolong: Pouchong. When we say that is halfway we mean that is slightly fermented without reaching normal levels in this sense normally used with other varieties of Oolong tea. That is why it is also called soft Oolong.
The smell that leaves this tea is deep, reminiscent of flowers, but more dense than the aroma of green tea. With great presence and very nice.
The leaves are rather small, twisted, dark green. This is due to the low fermentation process as they are unroasted.
The color of the infusion is a dark green, slightly amber. The smell coming from the glass once infused is very good, almost without losing flavor. Its flavor is floral, smooth and consistent. And the taste it leaves in mouth is thoroughly enjoyable. A little bitter (almost nothing) at first, but very good.
Although usually classified as an Oolong tea actually has many of the virtues of other floral green teas. All intermediate between green tea and Oolong, in what fermentation is related. A missing link that has all the numbers to stop being once jasmine tea lovers give it a chance.
