Today in our Tea Time we enjoye a really special tea: Yue Guang Bai. Its name, which translated from Chinese literally means “white moon light”, is due its method of manufacture and color of one side of its leaves.
This tea is grown only in a specific area of the Chinese province of Yunnan. One of the particularities of this tea is that the oxidation process is made in the light of the moon instead of the sun. We are therefore faced with a “Rara Avis” fairly unknown in Europe. We can say that when classifying this tea there are differing opinions. Although sometimes is designated as a variety of white tea is actually a Pu Erh tea.
Leaf color is really special. One side white and the other dark red, a curiosity about among classic tea varieties. The leaf stem is sharp. In appearance and aroma, is reminiscent to Bai Mu Dan white tea and to ShengPu Erh, still having their own personality.
The aroma once infused is very good, really nice with presence. Amber colored, has a mild flavor with a well balanced that leaves a small hint of bitterness in the mouth without being too dense, but persistent.
Of course, the most renowned of this tea are its properties. Very effective for weight loss and for the reduction and control of cholesterol and triglycerides. A discovery to expand the family of Yunnan’s Pu Erh pure teas.
