The scientific journal Nutrients has recently published a review article on the relationship between L-theanine and the mechanisms of immunity in the human body.
L-theanine (N-ethyl-γ-glutamine) is the main amino acid in tea leaves. It not only contributes to the flavor of the tea, but also has several health benefits.
Numerous cell and animal studies have shown that theanine plays an immunoregulatory role in inflammation, nerve damage, and in the intestinal tract.
This article reviews the progress of research on L-theanine immunoregulation and related mechanisms.
