Hello. We welcome you to a new session in which we will enjoy the variety of Bai Mu Dan white tea.
Bai Mu Dan white tea is grown in southern China, in the Fuding region of Fujian province.
The first thing that catches your attention is the wild appearance of its leaves, of irregular size. The leaf of this variety of tea goes through a minor oxidation process, a fact that is noticeable in the aroma, not so dry leaf. In fact, it has fresh touches, which without being fragrant, are pleasant right away.
We are going to prepare the infusion with a Gaiwan, as well as with a filter and a cup of justice.
First we will wash the leaf, adding the tea to the Gaiwan and water at about 80 degrees, leaving it for only a few seconds. Next we pour this first infusion into the cup of justice, passing it through a filter.
From there we discard all this infusion, adding it to the cup. In this way we not only clean the leaf of impurities on the outside, but we prepare it to obtain the best possible from it in the following infusions.
On the other hand, we also temper all the utensils: the Gaiwan, the cup of justice and the cup.
The washed leaves remain quite whole, showing a brighter color and giving off a wonderful aroma, ready to prepare the following infusions.
We repeat the infusion in the Gaiwan, to pass it through the filter again and add it to the cup of justice.
From here we will not rule out any infusion, but rather we will start enjoying them by serving them in the cup.
The infusion has come out very clean thanks to the filter, which allows you to appreciate its natural color. It is a beautiful golden color reminiscent of Champagne, but without gas, obviously.
And now, without further ado, we begin to savor it.
Focusing on its flavor, this Bai Mu Dan is a very well-balanced white tea. It has a fresh, smooth flavor, with no traces of herbaceous or astringent flavors in its aftertaste.
The intensity of its flavor is medium, more than in other varieties such as Bai Hao Yin Zhen. It is precisely this harmony that is the key point where this tea shows its quality.
The overall experience is really interesting. From that organic reminiscence of the almost wild leaf, little processed, to reaching such a beautiful color of the infusion, without forgetting the most important thing, which is its flavor. It is a tea that can be enjoyed, that is not cloying but persistent in the taste it leaves in the mouth after several infusions, which the leaf supports without problems.
Quality and simplicity in a tea highly appreciated for being one of those with the most antioxidants. This last quality is what makes it a highly appreciated tea on its own merits.
100% recommended, without a doubt, and a serious candidate to be the go-to tea for after meals or in the middle of the afternoon as the last tea of the day, given that the effects of caffeine in this Bai Mu Dan are milder than in other varieties.
