Hello. In today ‘s session we enjoy a very curious variety of tea: green tea pearls.

Originally from the Fujian region of China, these pearls attract a lot of attention from the first moment because of their size. They are twice the size of other varieties such as jade jasmine pearls or white tea pearls.

The aroma is soft, with light floral touches, with leaves of various greenish tones.

We prepare the infusion in a Yixing clay Gaiwan, adding a couple of pearls, and water at about 70 degrees, to infuse it for a very short time.

Upon contact with water, the pearls fall apart, remaining in a fresh tea with whole loose leaves, bright in color and medium size.

Once the infusion is ready, we pass it to a Gong Bei (cup of justice), using a filter. This will allow us to enjoy a totally clean infusion.

Infused with a pale green color, these green tea pearls have a subtle floral flavor, with a small insistent aftertaste typical of low oxidation and unfermented tea varieties.

It is interesting to discover how the way the tea is presented can influence its quality. In this particular case, the green tea pearls involve a selection of 10 leaves per pearl for manual rolling, based on a Maofeng variety from Fujian. This artisanal selection really adds an extra, starting with the whole leaves, which are not only pretty and interesting to look at, but also add to a better flavor. Another point in its favor is that it withstands several reinfusions without problems.

Keep in mind that Fujian Maofeng Green Tea is not an exclusive variety. It is rather the equivalent of a young wine with a designation of origin. An exponent that the quality of the average of a tea zone is not determined only by the teas of higher grade. And, without a doubt, a clear example of Fujian’s prestige as one of the best tea growing areas in the world. In short, these green tea pearls are the perfect type of tea to accompany a desktop, since they do not require much attention, yet offering a subtle and pleasant flavor.

Well, this is it for our session today. Thank you very much for your attention and see you soon.
